Too-ra-loo-rye-aye!
Welcome!
I'm Caio (sounds like ki-you — ['ka.ju/], if you're an IPA nerd). I'm a Computer Science student in his early twenties, currently living in São Paulo, Brazil, and striving to learn more programming and math.
The reason you're seeing this old-fashioned, simple HTML-only website is likely the very same reason every person had in mind when signing up in Neocities: creativity and nostalgia. Most of us got really excited while we were discovering services that promised to facilitate, integrate our lives on the Internet: Spotify, Netflix, bank account apps, Notion (and all those "second-brain apps" whose purpose is to keep you so delighted by the design and supposed facilities that you actually spend no time studying/working). Now we feel overwhelmed, blank, spied, and to have a hobby has been called "hyperfocus".
So, one day, 4am, I was reading about 90s/00s Internet when I found cloudhiker.net. Some forty random pages after, I found this site. I just loved it: she's a math major, almost like me. The name, I suppose, is a reference to a Coil song I love, which is curious, because Coil is such a unknown band, and she's from Russia, writing in English. Oh, and the site visual is so cute, I love this exaggerated girly aesthetic. Then I decided to take a try and create my own.
The name references Dexys' 80s hit Come on Eileen. Also, I love the name Eileen, and I'm a big fan of probably the most famous person named Eileen.
Obviously, English is not my native language, I just write in it as a way of practising. I speak Portuguese and can read in Spanish too. One of my main goals in the following two years or something is to learn basic-conversation-level Chinese.
My favourite movie is The Piano Teacher, my favourite song is Svefn-g-englar by Sigur Rós. I'm a Galo supporter and my other favourite sports teams are Ferroviário and Minnesota Timberwolves. I also love watching women's Tennis, and my favourite players are Zhang Shuai and Bia Haddad (more generally, I root for most Chinese and Russian players).
